Mid-Level Cybersecurity Engineer – Security Infrastructure & Integration

Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid)
Clearance: Active Top Secret (TS) Required
Qualification: Applicable DoD 8140 Requirements
Position Status: Contingent Upon Contract Award

Position Summary

Tetrabolt LLC is seeking a Mid-Level Cybersecurity Engineer to support the engineering, administration, integration, and optimization of enterprise cybersecurity infrastructure within a federal government environment.

The Security Engineer will be responsible for implementing, configuring, maintaining, and integrating security technologies to protect enterprise networks, systems, and information assets.

This is a hands-on technical engineering role focused on security infrastructure, systems integration, operational troubleshooting, and security capability enhancement.

Core Responsibilities

Security Infrastructure Engineering

• Configure, administer, and troubleshoot Check Point firewalls, security gateways, VPNs, and network security policies.
• Implement and maintain enterprise security controls across network and system environments.
• Support security architecture improvements, system hardening, and technical remediation.

SIEM Engineering & Integration

• Engineer, configure, and maintain Splunk and Microsoft Sentinel integrations.
• Develop log ingestion pipelines, data connectors, parsing rules, dashboards, alerts, and correlation searches.
• Troubleshoot log forwarding, ingestion failures, and interoperability issues.
• Optimize security monitoring capabilities and reduce operational inefficiencies.

Security Tool Integration & Automation

• Integrate cybersecurity platforms using APIs, scripting, and native connectors.
• Support interoperability among firewalls, SIEM platforms, endpoint security tools, and vulnerability management solutions.
• Develop automation to improve security operations and reduce manual processes.
• Evaluate and implement enhancements to existing security technologies.

Security Operations Support

• Provide advanced technical troubleshooting and engineering support for cybersecurity incidents.
• Support vulnerability identification, mitigation, and remediation.
• Collaborate with SOC analysts, network engineers, and system administrators.
• Maintain technical documentation, configurations, integration diagrams, and operational procedures.

Required Technical Experience

• Check Point firewall administration and troubleshooting.
• Splunk administration, integration, and security monitoring.
• Microsoft Sentinel configuration, integration, and analytics.
• Enterprise networking, TCP/IP, routing, firewall policies, and VPN technologies.
• Security tool integration, APIs, and automation.
• Windows and Linux operating system security fundamentals.
• Experience supporting enterprise cybersecurity infrastructure.

DoD 8140 Requirements

Must satisfy the applicable DoD 8140 qualification requirements for the designated DCWF work role and proficiency level.

Relevant certifications may include Security+ CE, CySA+, SecurityX, GSEC, GCIH, or CISSP, subject to the applicable qualification matrix.

Preferred Qualifications

• Check Point CCSA or CCSE certification.
• Splunk Enterprise Certified Admin.
• Microsoft SC-200 certification.
• Python or PowerShell scripting experience.
• Experience with NIST 800-53, RMF, and DISA STIGs.
• Prior DoD or federal cybersecurity engineering experience.

This position is associated with a prospective government contract and is contingent upon contract award.
